Katie has always had a passion and love for helping animals. When she lived in the United Kingdom, she volunteered at several animal rescues. She graduated from Oxford Brookes in 2012 with a Degree in Animal Behavior and Welfare. Katie has been fostering and working with dogs for the past 8 years. Over the years, she has continually been training her dogs to develop a calm atmosphere. Additionally, she trained foster dogs to make sure they are set up for success in their new homes.
In 2015, Katie adopted her first dog, Peanut, from the Nebraska Humane society. She then adopted Kovu her second dog from a local rescue in 2016. She started fostering in 2017. Almond was her first foster dog and never left.! Yes, she joined the foster fail club. She learned quickly that Almond was a very anxious girl. She was fearful of many things, which required lots of structure and guidance from her parents. Katie did lots of research on dogs and their behavior. Additionally, she hired a professional dog trainer to help give her the necessary knowledge and tools to guide Almond through life.
In 2019, Katie apprenticed with the ‘Life changing, Dog training’ process. After completing this program, she recognized how valuable it is that dog owners are empowered with the right tools and education to ensure they have a great life with their dogs.
Katie started The Fluff House at the beginning of 2019 as a place to provide the best care for dogs, and especially those with behavioral issues such as anxiety, fear aggression and dog aggression. She began offering dog sitting, walks and doggy day care, and began taking on training clients towards the end of 2019.
Katie's Husband Toby is a veteran and dog lover, he helps out with care and assists on training sessions.
